Sharing Light in Haiti

Thanks to the generosity of so many - we were able to take Solar Lanterns to share with families in need in Haiti. With electricity being far and few between - and non existent in a few communities we serve - these solar lanterns are an answered prayer.  The lanterns have a solar panel on the top that collects energy as well as a crank handle on the side as a "wind up" recharger on the days when the sun is hiding.  The lights have 5 settings and are needed for so many reasons.  With these lanterns, our school children have a light to do their homework by in the evening and our families have a light for bible study or family time.  These lanterns light the path to the community restrooms so our families don't stumble in the dark or can see if there are any "unwanted" visitors in their paths.  Have you ever had to tend to a sick child in the middle of the night without lights?  This helps alleviate that and lets the parents focus on the child.  Candles and Kerosene lamps are available but sometimes at a price that is beyond what our families can afford and not the safest option as most homes are made of stick and mud with a thatched roof.  These lanterns are very durable, light weight so they travel well, and are really making a difference.  But as Christians we know that physical light only takes us so far - these lanterns have been a tool for us to talk to families about the eternal light of Jesus Christ.  If your small group, business, or church is interested in helping share light throughout Haiti - please email us at renewhopehaiti@yahoo.com and we will get you connected with this project!  We would like to give a special thank you to Harvest Bible Chapel in Naperville for their support in kicking off this project.

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path  -  Psalm 119:105
